Hmm, I have ummed and arghed over this because it’s not really a bread.
I looked OVER many many recipes as I thought maybe I was missing something but nope, all cakey like recipes.
My question is this, “Why is this called a bread ? “
David Lebovitz asked the same question
and I am sure many others have as well.
Will this remain a mystery? I will hunt down the answer…It is now annoying me.
But until then let’s get Cakey???
As no matter what we call it, it is still very very yummy……..
I have never met anyone who doesn’t like Banana cake/bread.
Plus it takes no effort to make at all……
You will need:
3 black and spotty bananas
100 g softened butter
1 cup castor sugar
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup warm milk
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Vanilla essence
pinch of salt
2 cups Cake (ha ha) flour
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Mash up the banana with a fork.
Cream butter and sugar, then add egg and vanilla.
dissolve baking soda in warm milk and stir in.
Add in flour, salt and baking powder.
Pour mixture into greased and lined loaf.(cake ) tin.
Bake for 40-50 minutes or until bread/cake springs back on touch.
Remove from oven and cool for 20-30 minutes.
Remove from loaf tin and cool further on rack.
When cool (if you can wait that long), slice and scoff!!
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!
