This little bugger is BEAUTIFUL……..Squistito!!
It is the most easiest, mmm, great English grammar, cake to make….
Plus it is eggless and it is sooooooo moist!!
Plus you can dollop on the icing if you want, or serve with cream or even just berries but the cake itself is not overly sweet so you could easily add icing or a melted choccie on it…..

What will you need for such scrumptiousness to appear in your kitchen?
Well I will for a cake fee!!!
ha ha….I will for a trifle or a good coffee….
4 cups of self-raising flour
1 cup of Cocoa, preferably a nice rich dutch cocoa….
1 & 1/2 cups of castor sugar
Pinch of Salt
200g butter melted
1/2 cup of Golden syrup
2 and 1/2 cups of warm water
2 tspns of baking soda.
REMEMBER GENTLENESS IS OF THE ESSENCE HERE!!
STEP AWAY FROM THE PROCESSOR OR BEATER!!
Pre heat the oven to 175 celsius.
Grease two square or rectangle(or any tins) Or just do what i did and use one and make a MOTHER of a cake!!! The height was almost 2 x mouth width!!
Mix all dry ingredients EXCEPT the baking soda together.
Melt the butter, add in the syrup and the hot water, mix well and add in baking soda when warm.
Add wet to dry and quickly mix through…
REMEMBER GENTLE,GENTLE, GENTLE…..
Pour into the cake tin and bake for 25 mins in 2 tins or about 35-40 for 1 tin.
Remove from oven and allow to cool fully in the tin as it is very soft!!
Remove when almost cold and place on cake rack to fully cool.
Ice when cold with your choice of icing.
My icing was 3 cups of icing sugar,3 tbsps cocoa, 120 g soft butter, splash of vanilla essence and a splash of milk if needed.
Combine all drys, add in the butter, add in vanilla and then milk to make a smooth paste like icing…..
Spread it on!!!
Don’t be shy.
When cool, cut a wedge, not slices with this baby!!!
