For some reason, I always think of that song when I think of Venice:)

It is one of the most requested songs for Gondaliers to sing ……

Mmmm Veneziana

Yet it is a Neapolitan song.

But this lovely beauty is all Venetian!! It’s a Veneziana.

A Venetian version of Pandoro perhaps or a Panettone, as the dough is similar but without the fruits.

Definitely a festival bread and it does take a little effort but WELL worth it. Continue reading

Pizza Anyone? Go On , I know you want to!!

Nothing beats a gorgeous pizza, especially when its home-made with fresh ingredients !!

Homemade pizza  sugo and base , mushrooms, bacon, salame and mozzarella, a bit of basil and ooooohhhh parmesan.

Scrumptious Raisin & Rosemary Buns…Yummy!!

Or as they call them in Firenze….Pan di Ramerino.

Scrum scrum, scrummy!!

The first time I saw these in Firenze, I thought euhhhhhh, yucky , yucky mix….!!

But like the sweet vegetable tart from Lucca that sounds weird, these are wonderfully delicious and a fantastic combination of flavours!!

Not quite as taken by the Lucchese tart as these though…….

That tart is weird but nice…imagine silverbeet with sugar and you get my drift…
